My website experienced a light DDOS

My website experienced a light DDOS attack. Siteground did absolutely nothing to help. No emails, about 20 websites down for over a month. They also refused to refund for any of the money we had paid them. These people are thieving, incompetent filth.

Customer service sucks. 5c here 10c there

While the website uptime is usually great, if you need help, customer service hidden behind a brick wall and a stupid AI chat bot that rehashes the same answer to every question you give it.I was working on a websites with them that was taken down for malware. I removed the reported infected files, paid for and did site scans, but still the report persists (with "0 infected files"). I can't get through to a human agent, and it's been several days despite the AI dumbot telling me 24-48 hours before it's checked on.If you want a more comprehensive scan? More money. Not included with the basic scan you pay for.If you want "expert" customer service? More money.But mind you, the price for Siteground services has gone up tremendously over the years, including for domain names. So I'm looking to switch services now.

Poor Internal Communication

I used to think these guys were really good, they are super polite, but in the end their lack of internal communication, has again resulted in me losing sales. I had noticed before poor communication between the initial agent and the technical team behind the scenes. More often than not the true essence of the problem is missed in their write up to the technical guy. This happened again today, resulting in a large loss to my business. Today, I contacted them because there was an admin panel issue. The agent told me that he had to escalate it to the technical team. While this was happening my site literally disappeared. I told the agent, forget the admin panel issue, we need to get my site back. I asked him to update the information to the tech team so they could work on getting the site back. He refused, saying the ticket was accurate. I said it wasn't and he said don't worry, they will see your site is down and solve that. I was sceptical but as he refused there was nothing I could do.Sure enough, nearly two hours later the tech support guy replies, only addressing the admin panel issue and ignoring the fact that my site was down. Finally, he replies that yes your site is down so use a backup to restore it. I could have done that two hours previous, but was told to wait for the tech guy, who wasn't even bothering to investigate why the site went down. I have had to do restores in the past because of my own issues, but on this occasion, I had not done any updates. As of now my site isn't back, and they just ask me to wait. Lots of apologies but no action, and you really have to doubt the sincerity of the apology.

Greedy organiztion - wont let you download a backup

only a greedy organiztion would try to charge you for the ability to download a backup of your own website. Why? so they could lock you in?i hate this type of behavior.

I am leaving SiteGround after being

I am leaving SiteGround after being with them a number of years.Ii am on their cloud services. I am leaving because: 1 - Caching issues : Even with cache turned off i am driven mad trying to get changes flowing through. The HTAcess controls don't fix it and flushing cache doesn't work,. 2 - forced into PHP 8.x - with some sites not able to do that. PHP 7.4 is still secure. While clients make decisions to upgrade they still need to have their sites working. 3 - My email address was leaked to spammers. No resolution to this is months. No response from SG about this in months. It is 100% certain it is SG that leaked my details to spammers. its a unique address only used with them. 4 - No control over things like Wordpress templates being added into sites. I remove the 2019, 2020, 2021, 2022, 2023 templates - they keep coming back. 5 - no ability to see real statistics of disk usage. The stats in the limited panel are old or incomplete. For some reason more disk is getting used on a regular basis but no idea where or how and no way to monitor or fix this. 6 - Quality of support declining with more AI getting in the way and Pay for responses instead of talking direct to tech - as used to be the case. i am on on a high level of support and pay hundreds of dollars per month. I don't expect to get offered charges for basic support requests. AI just annoys me. 7 - Random server outages. No explanation. I find out about those before SG and have to contact them to get it fixed. That's not managed. 8 - CDN is being used on sites despite me having it turned off. Sites cant be seen in NZ but can in Canada. Therefore CDN is at play. Then it comes back but there is differences in data from one site to another. In general support has decreased. Annoyances increased. issues more often. No way to resolve. When sites go down as SG change things, and I have to fix issues - that's not managed support. That's a pain in the neck. 15 March 2025. _ I got back to SiteGrounds request below. Next day after they sent it. what responses did I get from them? NADA. Just a waste of my time being polite to them.

So far so good

So far so good. I was told by a rep that support was 24/7 but that apparently is not for phone support. That'?€™s my one criticism. Other than that pricing seems straightforward. If it works you will save me a ton of money over GODADDY which sucks ass!

The hosting is great as to the support team. The new AI chatbot is ok but giving information that seems at odds with what I received from a real person.
