I visited the Tunbridge Wells store with a TomTom that would not charge. I was hoping for help and advice regarding the problem and would have been happy to purchase a new product if it could not be sorted. Unfortunately the assistant would not consider helping as I had no receipt proving I had bought the said TomTom in Halfords despite telling her I had bought it there. She was informed by me that the item was 3/4 years old and therefore out of warranty so there was a possible opportunity to sell me a new TomTom but I hit a wall with the assistant. I have since purchased from another retailer. Suggest you review, if you bother to read your reviews, your customer service.
Halfords cowdray avenue colchesterI had my dashcam and satnav fitted with them then i noticed my car started to have unnecessary alarms. Ive come to have it checked with them and they said just observe and monitor. I also told them its supposed to have a night parking surveillance but the dashcam said incorrect wire fitted. Next month i came back because of the same problem they said their technician resigned and they dont have available tech to see it. I came back the other month with the same problem and they said they’ll check the battery of the car which they said theres no problem. They said it might be the electricals (they’re the only ones who touched it). They asked me to book a car tech assessment and then i did. They booked me the next month due to tech’s going on a holiday and its the only availability i have as well. the lady told me I’ll be the first one to be seen and when i went there today at 8am as what is agreed, they said i was mistakenly booked. I cancelled all my appointments just to accommodate that day and they just wasted my time. I suggest not to let your car accessories fitted in HALFORDS! Waste of time and money!
We needed a new battery for our car. The website asked for the car registration number and then showed the battery we needed. Luckily, we didn’t pay for it and book the fitting slot online! When we turned up at the store, turns out the ?141.99 (including fitting) battery they said we needed was not suitable for our car which has stop/start function and the one we need is ?350. Why ask for the registration number if you can’t actually quote the right battery ??? What a total waste of time. Buyers beware!!
I recently purchased a child's car seat in Halfords Navan, Co Meath branch. Michelle took time to assist me in my choice and there ARE lots to choose from, then she carried the heavy device out to my car, and helped me with the instructions to fit it. I was delighted with my excellent experience of superbly genuine customer care. Many grateful thanks to Michelle!
Should have read the 1star reviews!Bought eight packs of black floormat sets (tiles) over 3 days as area of garage to cover was expanding and decided to place some in the garden shed. Advertised as Garage tiles but don't expect then to last long!Transpires that they are cheap for a reason and not well made. Some tiles are ‘matt’ finish and some are glossier. Some are perfectly square and cut so that the ‘chequer-plate’ effect is in straight lines for matching then some are set at varying angles of 10-15 degrees? Clearly the manufacturing tools are not set to be consistent which looks very odd when one tile is out of alignment. Some tiles are about 1mm thinner than others, even on a flat kitchen table sample. When I went for the third batch, I asked the young assistant if they had had reports of different thicknesses...I got a “Mmmm.” response then silent. Complete waste of time taking the conversation further. Then, reading the 1-star reviews indicates similar problems. So, either the staff don’t bother reading reviews to gain knowledge to appear helpful or they are trained to act blank.
I have been purchasing the ANTI THEFT CAR KEY SIGNAL BLOCKER to keep my car keys safe .Unfortunately this item only lasts about 3/4 months at the most . I called customer service and was put through to a complete imbecile that did not even understand English . They were in South Africa. I have bought 13 of these items for myself and as gifts and paid around ?6 for each one in the past couple of years and still ,they stop working after a short while . So if you are looking to purchase a faraday bag for your car keys ,DO NOT BUY IT FROM HALFORDS. ABSOLUTE RUBBISH . I complained to the store today and they just laughed. Definitely will NOT a be purchasing anything else from HALFORDS again.
Took a childs bike for handlebar repair and was told it would be ready in a week (needs it for school). Recieved a text saying it would be 3 more days. Arrived to collect the bike and no repairs had been done. They checked and the parts were in stock but despite this they said they were waiting for parts. Staff came up with excuse after excuse, the boy doing the repair had gone to Disneyland, the handlebars were on order, then changed it to the gears were on order. Also said the wheel had been repaired ( the wheel wasnt the issue, it was the handlebars). No direct number to contact them either. This was the hull st Andrew's quay store.
I bought 2 sets of brake discs at ?19.14 each, making the total ?38.28. I then added a ?5 voucher which further reduced it to ?33.28.On delivery day only one set showed up.On Complaining to Halfords they refunded me ?16.64 after blaming a third party seller for not delivering the second set A shortfall of ?2.50 out of my pocket. There's no one to complain to as i find their f.b page very rarely manned and their web site contact is through a "BOT".DO NOT USE THIS RETAILER AS THEY ARE SCAMMERS WITH A CUSTOMER SERVICE TO MATCH
Bought a carrera vengeance men's mountain bike from them a few weeks ago & they built it in store. Collected the bike & within 24 hours the pedal was coming off as it had not been fitted properly. Tried to call the store, but you can't. Instead you get routed through a team out of the UK who quite simply do not have a clue what they are doing. Had the bike booked in for a second visit in the 1st week to have the pedal changed. After leaving the store following this, Had issues with the chain not gripping and skipping, so hard to even ride. Yet another call to the call centre of hell & this time after speaking to two people who both contradicted each other and told the totally wrong info, i was booked in for my 2nd visit in as many days to have the bike looked at again. The store team agreed to replace it & I had to leave to then go back for my 3rd Visit in one week to collect the new bike. Rode it and all seemed fine, until the chain was sticking & getting wrapped round itself and jammed at every gear change. The chain came off 4 times in one ride out. Spoke to the call centre of no help whatsoever and they were beyond useless Contacted the customer service team & spoke to Olivia over email who offered a voucher as good will gesture. Absolutely pointless. The website is totally rubbish & anything you click on to order is out of stock they are incapable of allowing you to all the items to a basket & allowing collection at different times which any other retailer would do. instead they send hundreds of emails telling you the order has been cancelled, there is no actually information of use on the emails & they fail to tell you where you can re-order, get the refund or anything else. I have tried to order 6 items today from 4 different Manchester stores, for click and collect 7 every single item is "out of stock" or collect in a week. Totally pointless I clicked on every single item they have listed on their website for the category of things i was looking for and not one could be collected today If there was an option to give them -10 starts, this would be too generous absolute shambolic business
I visited the Balham store to book in a repair of my bike. They said the engineer had been on holiday so couldn't repair until 20th September. Firstly that seems an insane wait time for a company as big as Halfords. The gentleman there suggested I try New Malden instead as they had 2 engineers. I contacted their shop, but was rerouted to a central customer service team, this is where the real issue begins. They booked in an assessment for 2 days for 2pm. I asked them several times if it was ok to drop my bike down earlier on that day as I had to go to work. When I arrived at New Malden, soaking wet from the rain the guy said I couldn't keep my bike there. There are a few issues here, first the central phoneline clearly is not trained and gave me false advice. Secondly the gentleman in New Malden was so rude and clearly was reveling in the fact I was given wrong information. Giving me an analogy like "you wouldn't turn up for a doctors appointment early", not really sure what his angle was.I then just dropped my bike at an independent shop. I left it there, they said they'd look at it before giving me a ring to see if I agreed with the parts and costs. Staggering how Halfords doesn't just follow this policy. They aren't a bike shop and clearly don't have the right resources or care for it.
