I dont want to speak to someone in CAPE TOWN SA especially with a UK number - So gone to RAC

So I want to speak to a local store - local number is provided on webpage - go through the usual 1001 choices - only to end up speaking to someone in CAPE TOWN - Why just WHY? I was going to enquire about a dash cam fitting - but am going to RAC where I get to speak to someone in UK.

Above and beyond

I recently visited the Bike department in Halfords Guildford (8am 20/08/25). I needed a replacement break for my sons bike and it was showing in stock on line. When I arrived it turned out that it wasn't. so why 5*? The guy serving could not have been more helpful. He offered alternative products but on listening to my needs realised that they wouldn't work. Knowing that i needed it that morning he searched up other competitor shops that might work and found one nearby that could help. This is a brilliant example of customer service. Going above and beyond to help a customer even if it means missing out on a sale (that wouldn't have been made anyway as the item I needed was out of stock!). It will make sure that i return to the store for future bike needs. Interestingly I have recently had cause to write a 1* review for the Halfords owned Tredz due to their very poor customer service. hopefully they will learn from the excellence shown in their Halfords store.

Difficult to prevent auto renewal

Unecessarily difficult to prevent auto renewal of motoring club subscription : Really disappointed at Halfords giving customers the run around when they ask that their motoring club subscription does not auto renew . All sorts of nonsense to navigate .can’t cancel within first 11 months but if you wait until 12 th month the renewal is already winging its way to you .You can prevent auto renewal no more than 30 days and no less than 3 before the due date but it’s all buried in the terms and conditions . I guess they hope you’ll take your eye off the ball and miss the date where the planets align and cancellation becomes possible . I’m going to be abroad when renewal takes place , I’ll be livid if I get a computer generated apology that I’ve missed the cancellation / cooling off period . Be careful before you sign up it’s hard to break away . Zero points for transparency Halfords you may trick people into paying another years subscription but you’ll drive customers away as in my case Update .see money saving expert forum feed on this exact topic ,this conundrum has been been going on for years .. I found a very useful cancellation number 0330-135-9669 ( hope it saves someone trawling through the T&Cs ) they’ll try to downgrade you to a free membership to hang on to your details/email but if you insist they should delete your data from their records . Come on Halfords why are you making it so frustratingly difficult ? there should be a prominent prevent auto renewal choice without all this trawling through T&Cs and searching how other customers have solved the riddle .

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️Fantastic service at the Cheltenham Kingsditch Halfords! Aggie was friendly, welcoming and so helpful, nothing was too much trouble. Jack checked over my car and was equally professional and warm. Proper old-fashioned customer service — thank you both!

The worst customer service I have ever.

The worst customer service I have ever come across. Do not shop here. I tried to post an honest review via their site but it was rejected. I don’t know how this business survives.

Without doubt one of the most.

Without doubt one of the most unintuitive annoying websites I've ever had the misfortune to use. What ever you do under no circumstances put your vehicle registration in the halfords Website your in the saved vehicles section. I wanted to look at oil filters and because the registration of my car didn't come up with a compatible oil filter it wouldn't let me browse any other filters for my wife's car. It just kept going round in circles with the same FAQ article on how how to change your oil filter or how halfords can do it for you which I wasn't the least bit interested in. Talk about annoying. I tried to remove my registration on the edit page but it wouldn't remove it. It even put my car registration attached to National tyres for some bizarre reason. Its my own fault I should of learnt my lesson I had the same issue with my motorbike registration so in the end because I it wouldn't remove it from my account I had to re-register just to start from scratch and remove any stored vehicle details. I thought halfords would of sorted their website out by now but how wrong was I.

HALFORDS KIRKSTALL LEEDS.a truly shocking store. we went to purchase a bike, upon collecting it the bike they promised had several issues they couldn't be bothered to fix claiming nobody knew or passed on the messages to staff in store so we trekked back to return the bike and they simply shrugged there shoulders like what do you want to us to do.they then offered to obtain the same bike from another store and they would call us.. of course nobody called us for days on end. I tried calling.. they do not answer the phone instore, it took for days and 31 attempts for the store to pick up. there own call centres couldn't get through either. the store is evasive in every manner. managers on holiday, short staffed etc all I can say every time I have been into store there is never more than 2 or 3 customers.. so after much hassle we opted for a full refund which they refused to do unless we travelled down to the store. why should we have to travel there for a 3rd time at our expense ??we have requested an area manager to call us but we will not hold our breath as this companies customer service is nothing short of a disgrace .AVOID HALFORDS IF POSSIBLE. I for one will never shop with them again.
