It took four customer service agents, four emails, and lashing out to get one thing done in two weeks. All I wanted was to change my phone number for my second verification code. I am shocked and appalled at how they handle their customer’s issues. I pray I never need them any time soon because it was the worst experience ever and they need to do better.
Deactivated my account for NO reason, still holding my money 4 months later, Every time I call in they give me a new date, I'm lied to. treated disrespectful, I got people who couldn't speak clear English, i was told i couldn't speak to a manager< please No one do business with them, too many companies that do good legit business. they will take your money and give you no reason why!!!!! they stole hundreds and never returned it.
Square deactivated my account without any explanation and is holding my funds for 90 days, which is completely unreasonable and damaging to my business. When I contacted customer service, they were vague, dismissive, and refused to explain the reason behind the deactivation. I was told to issue refunds to my clients, but they refused to expedite the process, saying my clients would have to wait 2 to 7 business days to get their money back.Worse, they refused to let me speak with a supervisor, provided no contact information for the team behind the decision, and offered no appeal process at all. I was treated with total disregard, as if my business and clients didn’t matter. This has been an absolute nightmare. Square is holding my money hostage with zero accountability. Do not trust them with your business.
As a well known brand with reputation, I trusted square right off the bat. I am a business start up doing commercial equipment repair. First transaction around $1200, no issues. Next few were around a hundred, another $1200, a couple hundred, about 7 transactions total all going well, and then. a client who owned two locations, paid separate invoices back to back and square froze my account. Told me they just need to make sure I’m me and would only take a couple days. I then wake up to an email they they have deactivated my account. No reason why. No resolution. Called them, same answer, won’t say why, no appeal process. Fine, pay me the money my client paid to me and I’ll go elsewhere right? Nope. My options? Wait 90 days for funds to release (Google about this yourself, turns out it’s often much longer than 90 days and the only resolve is to complain online to enough public forums someone will care and give you your money. Or 2. refund your client and ask them to pay you through a different invoice system.Being a startup, I needed my funds. how f**kin embarrassing to have to call up a millionaire and tell them your card processor closed your account and you need to refund and recharge them (luckily he did, but haven’t heard from that client since). Use anyone else. a guy on the corner with a long coat that promises he is good for it would be more trustworthy. just don’t use square. They will bend you right over and ruin both your finances and reputation and make you call them and ask why so they can tell you “shhhh. Quiet down now. That’s none of your business”. Personally I chose QuickBooks, so far it’s been fine. For those wondering as I would, yes I’m legit. Registered LLC, IRS issued EIN, business banking accounts, all of it. Thank you square, for making my first, and most actively in need client, be wary of doing business because of a shady feeling about their finances I had to give them to keep my income coming in and business startup afloat.
The reader system is great when working, but is failing fairly regularly, losing contact with the card reader. Square are also quite difficult to get customer service, as it is mostly dealt with by chat bots, which are nigh on useless.
