POS doesn't stand for Point of Sale...If you catch my drift.Absolutely horrendous experience with Square. They discontinued our service midway through my family businesses busy season after we had conducted over $1 million of transactions with them. Plus they owe us $32k which they are holding in "reserve" even after they have cancelled.
They keep repeating themselves. They have had my review for a new location and they won’t help me at all and I mean at all. They keep saying two days and it’s been 7 and here we are on a Friday so you know what that means it will be Monday when and if I hear anything. Nobody can run a business like this, we are almost out of fuel because they have our $2800 held hostage after I’ve given them all them all the info. They connected me to the advanced support team and it sounded like she was asleep and wasn’t concerned with anything I had to say it’s probably because it’s in another country so it’s the middle of the night. After all this I can’t wait to deactivate my account after wasting 20 hours this week on the phone with them. They DO NOT CARE AT ALL
They don’t support there depositers On June 23, 2025, I received a text message from square stating there was suspected fraud on my account and was a purchase for $110 to Walmart mine. I immediately replied no and locked my account. I was literally shocked to discover that square not only allowed this purchase but an identical one right behind the first. $220. I filed the dispute with square only for them to tell me they will not honor the dispute because I had used my card at this merchant previously. who in the hell has never shopped at Walmart? Absolutely ridiculous I don’t know how to respond to the comment that I received from square so im just going to update and say i was told by the agent the decision was final and could not and would not be changed. If square would like to reach out to me. My info is available on request otherwise it appears I will be forced to using social media and seek legal advice
I do not recommend. Here's a message from their support team: "l checked your account and after a comprehensive review of your account, we have determined that we are still unable to process payments for your business. Our decision to deactivate your account is final. We understand that it can be frustrating to have your account deactivated. However, due to security concerns and the obligations of our agreements with card networks and other financial institutions, we cannot provide additional details."
A $200+ transaction went to a closed account. Not their fault. Was told that once the bank would reject it, give it so many business days to return to them. I waited that time and a lot more. It is now June 3, 2025, and after multiple long calls and lies of escalating the issue, I still have not received the funds. I have called my bank more than one time to make sure they did not have it and asked to perform a trace. The bank does not have it, and I told this to Square numerous times. I have been with them for years now, and this is the first time I have had a major issue. Typically I do not jump ship over one issue, but this one has gone on for too long, and they still have not reached back out to me concerning this since May 21, 2025, to tell me to do things I have already done and that they can not trace the transaction.
Beware of chargebacks. Even if you do everything right, Square will not have your back. Completed a service for a client. Received TAP payment in the customer's driveway for that service. Client filed a chargeback saying that they never received the service. Square allowed the client's bank to recoup the money. It was $99, so there's no point in filing suit against the client. White collar theft is allowed, and you have NO protection. Good luck!Update: PayPal offers seller protection. Maybe this is something that Square should look into.
I registered and went through all the steps setting up my square account. One of my clients pay me $5K and and the funds were place in my account after I uploaded my banking details they sent me a text and the text stated they closed my account and will hold my $5K for 90 days. I'm suing this group. 3.12.2025. Square scams small businesses and take your earning and wont return for 90days.
