Review Time
Been using SiteGround for years now and have even recommended them to others, but not any more. The prices have gone through the roof and I decided on letting my hosting go, but keeping my domain. I called them and told them about using WIX for my site, but keeping my domain and pointing it towards my new WIX site. They said sure that will work. They totally lied about that! The day my hosting services ran out my site went down. Since I was no longer hosting, getting tech support took me over an hour. Chat is your only option. When I told the rep what happened he said you can'?€™t do that, you can'?€™t forward your domain to somewhere else if you are not hosting with us. Totally different than what I was told. So I'?€™m paying WIX now because of this. Now they are holding up the release of my domain. They are all the same. I got burned by GoDaddy a few years ago, and now it'?€™s SiteGround. They get you on these super low deals and then jack up the price 300%! They know they have you over the barrel. I have no problem with them telling me that up front, but they didn'?€™t and now my website is down and it'?€™s hurting me as an independent artist. Thanks SiteGround.
Diminti was fantastic - its your service that isn't, 2 days and I still can't speak to someone! So therefore I cannot give you a 5* - And you writing a response to it and not allowing me to comment isn't good either. Get a phone support button on your website - employ more people and support your customers. But you still haven't solved my problem, after 3 days! Its 7.30pm here and I am in work and can't use your call your option, so it is not open to worldwide customers. So because of your lack of support, I ended up having to pay for someone on fiver. We have migrated the emails, however, although my emails are on your server now ( $20 down) they are not coming into my outlook. Seems the lack of understanding seems to be a worldwide pandemic! And whilst I understand you say you have supported me, only by me having to type away endlessly, it seems posting publicly seems to get someone's attention. I'd rather have a phone conversation and we can resolve the issues though! I have no emails!!!
I've used Siteground for a long time. PHPMail has been suddenly disabled, preventing our blog notifications from going out. Edit: They've reached out to me because of this review, with personalized advice that allowed me to update the site to better navigate a (new?) security rule that was interfering with sending mail from a gmail address. Siteground, and now the site, says that troubleshooting escalations to a human are possible. However that escalation apparently was difficult or confusing for me.I've updated this review on the basis of the issue being fixed.
The answer to my question came quickly but Siteground does not offer the same level of help they once did, Too BadThe answer was Siteground will host a Joomla site but you are on your own with it.Their reply was that they do support Joomla but the tech I chatted with said they only provide Joomla hosting but not for any Joomla programming issues. So what is it?
I've had a great experience with SG. The only issue I've recently had was a handful of domains renewing early. I checked my account for the renewal date and it said Feb 6, it renewed on Jan 22. I did get emails warning me, but as I'd checked my account on SG, I didn't feel the need to check the emails, assuming that what it says on my account is correct. Hidden behind another menu within another page was the actual renewal date for auto-renewals. It would be so easy and a lot more professional for SG to put the auto-renewal date on the domain list page, not hidden away in another sub menu on another page.If they change this, I'll change my review. One star off at the moment for this as I will have to take the hit if the client doesn't want to renew, which they may not.
This is not about Maria. This is about Siteground and the way you train your CSR first level. EVERY TIME I have a problem this is the way it goes: I state my problem and that I have made no changes and therefore the problem must berelated to Siteground's changes. Then we spend 20-60 minutes going back and forth until finally Siteground realizes the problem was on tehir end and it gets resolved. This is a taring issue not a CSR issue - it happens every time. Please fix this problem. I am happy to serve as a consultant for fixing it. Just want better service. Thanks.
