Most people are oblivious to the fact that SG's email hosting is losing them orders and customers.Do not use SG for email hosting unless you want to lose orders and customers.SG's email hosting application uses AI to determine whether an incoming email should be directed to their Server Inbox (from where email clients on user devices download incoming email) OR to the Junk folder (email in the Server Junk folder is NOT downloaded by local email clients).Of course, if you're time rich or your business is time rich, then you can waste time logging into SG webmail multiple times each day and checking the Server Junk folder and moving any emails from there that should be in the Server Inbox from where they will be downloaded by email clients. However, if you don't waste time doing so, you will lose orders and customers, because emails from customers are consistently put in SG's Server Junk folder and thus never downloaded/received by your business. On multiple occasions we have requested SG to cease and desist from knowingly and willfully inflicting financial loss on our business by way of its email Server Junk filtering placing valid customer order emails in the Server Junk folder and us not receiving them or not receiving them before the customer gave up waiting and ordered elsewhere. We have requested that SG deactivate email Server Junk filtering on our email hosting so that we receive ALL emails. However, SG refuse to deactivate it.So, we have demanded they pay for each lost order, though, of course, they refuse to.Bottom line: DO NOT use SG for email hosting unless:1/ you're happy to lose orders and customers; or,2/ you have staff with plenty of spare time to waste on logging in to SG webmail multiple times throughout each day to check if any valid emails are in the Server Junk folderSG do say that their AI can be trained by moving valid emails from Server Junk to Server Inbox, however this is a lie. It doesn't work.
Extremely overpriced for what they offer. I guess they are good for absolute web novices who want to run WordPress but way better prices are offered with far more disk space and bandwidth than Siteground offers. Customer services is good which is why I gave them 2 stars but their fees are beyond a joke and all the add ons are completely unnecessary (and often a pain in the A) for seasoned professionals. Shop around and read independent reviews (e.g. PC Mag recently reviewed the best server hosts and SiteGround didn't rate a mention). Bottom line though, PROs good for newbies and WP newbies, good customer services and good servers and uptime (albeit very little disk space when compared to many other companies). Cons extremely overpriced for what they offer.
So when I finally got through to Support, they were great and they checked the server side of things on the Siteground things. But generally Siteground is moving more an more to zero support, without having decent documentation or alternatives like videos in place. I spent more than 30 minutes faffing about with your AI bot and documentation. I will definitely be reconsidering who I host with when my contract comes up for renewal. Siteground's great support was probably the main reason I signed up to Siteground initally. I only really stay now because I'm used to how the files are set up and structured, but they feel really expensive to use.
