I hosted 12 websites on SiteGround's GoGeek plan, their largest shared hosting option. Out of those 12, only two websites were over 5GB in size, with most of the others being lightweight with just a few pages. Despite this, SiteGround turned off all my sites, claiming that my inode quota had been exceeded and urging me to upgrade to their cloud plan. I deleted some sites to resolve the inode issue, but shortly after, they disabled my main business website, citing that my MySQL database space had exceeded 1GB (total usage was 1.4GB). Again, they pushed for an upgrade to their cloud plan.If you're considering hosting a simple blog or lightweight site, SiteGround might be okay. But I strongly advise against using it for e-commerce or medium-sized websites. Their 40GB web space and "unlimited website hosting" claims are misleading. The system is designed in such a way that you can't utilize the full 40GB, nor can you comfortably host more than 10-12 websites on the GoGeek plan without running into issues.I've since moved my websites to another platform, where the allocation of database space and inodes is clearly specified for each plan. SiteGround lacks transparency and fails to provide reliable, honest service for medium-sized websites. Their practices have significantly harmed my businesses, and I cannot recommend them for anything beyond basic, low-demand hosting needs.
The chat box disconnected midway through our conversation, and I had to reopen a new support chat and re-explain everything from the beginning. It would be great if the chat system could retain conversation history in such cases. That said, I did eventually receive a solution-- thank you for the support!
I am so happy to move my hosting to SiteGound with the user-friendly manage tool and extremely helpful supporting team. My most important site is suck at previous hosting and the CPanel is crashed down. Thanks for the technical team keep on trying to connect witth the unstable ex-Hosting and move the site (12GB) completely and it is back to normal now. I really feel so happy and appreciate to choose SiteGround.
I have hosted nearly 20 simple WordPress websites with SiteGround, some for well over a decade. We simply don't have the room on our architecture to host bloated WordPress websites that run on archaic JavaScript framework. Until December we've always chosen SiteGround as a good and decent host that had support. Recently, I built a basic WordPress website for a client who, in good faith, paid for an entire year of hosting in advance. At the time, the renewal rate was clearly set at $6.99 per month, contingent on paying for the full year upfront. However, at the start of this year, SiteGround charged my client $17.99 per month over 30 days early and billed the entire year at this inflated rate'?€”completely disregarding the agreement. This bait-and-switch tactic is not only unethical, but it borders on fraudulent behavior. It'?€™s evident to me that SiteGround has been acquired by a company driven purely by greed, and they are now exploiting loyal customers in a way that is beyond acceptable. In response to this, I am severing all business ties with SiteGround. I have reached out to their support team multiple times to address this issue, but my attempts have been completely ignored. As a result, I am now taking steps to ensure that others are made aware of their dishonest practices. We will be posting reviews across multiple platforms, and I am in the process of filing a formal grievance with the Better Business Bureau.Despite the predictable response from SiteGround, urging us to '?€œcontact them,'?€ ? the truth is we'?€™ve already cancelled almost half our clients accounts and migrated them to reputable hosting companies. We'?€™ve been attempting to resolve this issue for over a month, but their support system has become so monetized that it now costs customers just to get an email reply, and their customer service has been relegated to a paid-only plan unless you want to use chat AI support, which is limited and often unhelpful.I can no longer, in good conscience, recommend SiteGround to anyone. Their actions have been dishonest and their customer service, when it exists, is wholly inadequate. I hope they face the consequences of their greed and poor business practices.
