I had hoped that they'd offer a good service. When I got in touch initially, a human being responded promptly. However, now that they've got my money, they're no better than the rest. To get to speak to a human being you need a 6 digit code, which their AI unhelp system won't give you. It just throws the same useless answer at you again and again.Very disappointed.
UPDATE to SG ReplySorry SG but you are being deceptive in your attempt to trick the consumer into paying for support. Clearly and utterly without doubt. Your deception has been reported to the FTC and the Attorney General for the state of Virginia where you have a nexcess. Well, Siteground just shot themselves in the foot today. They instituted a fee now to talk to support. No other company does this, but them. Abandon ship we say. They just lost our business and 989 client websites from hosting. We'll be moving all of our apps of their servers as well. What a horrible decision by their management team. Horrible. Their AI chat is never right either. We've been with Siteground for so many years and now this. Bad decision. They also lacked the ability to download or work local anyway. Where so many other hosts offered it. Hosts with the same type of Google cloud computing servers.Stay away from Siteground folks. You'll be happy you did.
My domain renewal lapsed but you can not handle renewing yourself, and they force you to contact support. I was told I would have had to pay an additional $90. They have support telling customers it is out of their hands and it is because of the domain registrar they use. However.SiteGround is an ICANN-accredited registrar, which means they have the authority to register domain names directly for their customers without relying on third-party registrars. This direct accreditation allows them to manage domain registrations and related services in-house.So they don't have to charge you this fee. They play the blame game. They would rather allow me to close my account with them and ignore the multiple years of payments I made for $90 fee they don't have to charge. They will have support lie to customers and say it is out of their hands.
Nameserver can't be updated on site ground. It says "nameserver is invalid" but it isn't because it worked for a dozen of my other domain names, exactly the same name server pointing to my VPS.Reached out to support repeatedly over the last week and all I get is "we have expedited this and will email you when you have an update", not to mention the fact it's costing me hundreds of pounds per day, nobody is willing to simply pick up the phone and find out what is happening.Ridiculous service. Avoid at all costs.Response to their reply:It's not really good enough, is it? It's worked with every other domain I own registered elsewhere including one other domain registered with you.In any case I have no transferred out all domains. The update to the name servers with a ho we transferred it to works flawlessly and our websites are all fully functional again.
Great service, but pricing jump is steepThe service itself is great. It is reliable and easy to use. The first-year pricing is AMAZING and honestly what pulled me in. But after that, the cost skyrockets to the '?€œregular'?€ ? rate, which is about 3x higher (that's a 300% Price increase). I get that prices go up, but the jump felt extreme and caught me off guard. Just be sure to read the fine print and budget ahead if you're planning to stick around beyond the intro year.
I have been with SiteGround for a couple of years. They have been quite ok. Because of convenience, I decided to transfer and purchase my domain name from SiteGround. Their registrar partner is Tucows. I received an email wanting me to share information with Tucows. I went to TrustPilot to look at Tucows' reviews. I have never been so shocked. Seemingly, almost everyone gave them a one-star. There are many tales of woe. They are crooks. SiteGround's name is being sullied by being associated with this outfit. I may transfer my domain purchase back to the organisation from which I originally purchased it.
I recently had a frustrating experience with the SiteGround "Speed Optimizer" plugin. After activating the plugin, it completely broke the formatting of my website. In an attempt to resolve compatibility issues, I paid for a credit, but the site remained extremely slow. The support team then requested an additional credit to investigate further. They concluded that the issue was related to WooCommerce, a plugin used by millions of users worldwide. They mentioned that their dynamic cache was somehow incompatible with WooCommerce cookies, which I don'?€™t fully understand. To fix this, they asked for two more credits, bringing my total support costs to over '?‚ ?200. I initially paid for a credit to address a problem caused by their plugin, then another credit just to identify the issue. Now they want more money to resolve a problem that, honestly, I believe shouldn't be my responsibility to pay for.SiteGround's systems should be compatible with widely-used WordPress plugins, and if they aren't, it shouldn't fall on the customer to cover the additional costs. I'?€™m disappointed with this experience.
