I'?€™ve been trying to contact support for days, but I couldn'?€™t find an email or ticket system. The site is now at risk of being shut down because it supposedly used too much CPU. We'?€™re an agency and have never had issues like this with other hosting providers. It'?€™s a simple website that shares sports news, there'?€™s no need for dedicated hosting, a VPS, or anything similar. We usually use WPX, but this client already had an account here, so we thought, "Why not continue with it?" Big mistake. This has been the absolute worst hosting experience we'?€™ve ever had. Zero support, and now we'?€™re getting warnings about the site being taken down due to 80% CPU usage over a couple of months for a basic news site.
Good, Great Support! Inefficient Bot! Migrator needs improvement! The Migrator: Many times Automigrator gets stuck one place or the other. Every time I start one I have to cross my fingers and look heaven wards hoping it doesn't get stuck. Unfortunately There is no debug information. Once you get stuck The drama starts - There is no way of verifying if all files are transfered. I once cancelled the transfer after a long time and then something went wrong and they had to fix it. So better not touch it.Then you want to get to support - but there is a Troll on the bridge! the AI Bot you have to get through it first. It gives information that is many a times misleading. Finally the Support Guys come they fix it and all is well!It ok to have issues. But when it happens multilple times who will pay for the 1 hour or more we lost and that too multiple times. Simple - A Migrator that shows a Trace, or a Tell-tale of activity on source (plugin) side, or in destination (sitetools) - may be the first step in imporvement.Otherwise! Love Siteground!
I was locked out and had absolutely no way to get in to my account. To say I felt frustrated was an understatement. They have no customer support (you have to be logged in to have a code to speak with an agent or you only get to talk to a computer), they couldn't send me a code no matter how many times I asked it to generate one when I asked for a password reset, they couldn't send a code to my phone, and unless you can lock into said account, YOU DO NOT HAVE ACCESS to any employee there at all. Man. Bluehost has a wait, but at least you can contact them. These guys really need to work on their customer service.
Alexsandar (sp?) was thorough, courteous and very helpful. The answer to my question not so much. I was considering taking advantage of one of SiteGround's promotions but the wording was a little unclear to me so I called and talked to a representative to make sure if I paid for the year's plan that it would be applied to my existing plan. I was assured that it would be so I paid the fee. On the chat with Alexsandar I found out that I could not apply it to my existing plan. I was still within the cancellation period, so was able to cancel and get a refund, but was disappointed there was no solution to just transfer the payment.
Have used SiteGround for 5 years, and every year they get worse and greedier. This year is the final straw. They REMOVED features from their plans, so now I can't download any files, databases or backups without paying $5 per website per month. They won't let you transfer sites from one hosting plan to another all of a sudden, when I'd do this regularly with them a few times a year. This has gone too far, so I'm switching all of my sites from Siteground to another company that actually delivers value without penny pinching me for "new" features that they "Stole" from me. Do not use this company unless you love throwing your money away.
