Completely useless anti-theft fob wallet

Purchased two anti-theft fob wallets from Halfords that we have found due to our local garage to be completely useless. Our car could still be opened with the key in the wallet and in a drawer, they are supposed to block the signal to prevent this happening! How many others have put their trust in Halfords and purchased these to protect their car. We have been lucky that we have not had our keys cloned and the car stolen due to these appalling quality anti-theft wallets that are not worth buying.I have already contacted Halfords about this matter but don’t suspect I will hear anything from them based on the reviews on here.I will take further action should this be required, I will not allow this company to put people’s cars at risk!

Northallerton branch -

Northallerton branch -My mtb red carrera has been in and out this shop since 11/8/25 . Its still there till this day 20/8/25. Went in for a gear service. Came out while awaiting my new shifter took it back. To complete the service I paid for. And we'll down hill ever since its never been right or smooth changing gears. Slips off cogs misses gears. A very bad experience I do not advise anyone to use there bike services at all. I feel like getting my bike back and going else where. Absolutely horrible experience. Some gears seem like sand paper! Do not use this bike service. Still on going matter now. All want is my bike to correctly pedal and change gears correctly..

Unroadworthy and dangerous product

My bike was sold with an unroadworthy front wheel - the tyre was flat on day 1 (after no cycling) and the brakes don't grip. I've taken the bike into the Byfleet store 7-8 times and the problems are still not fixed. They do not call back, and neither does the 'helpline'. Appalling product. Appalling service. I've had a bike from Halfords all my life and will not spend one more penny in that shop. Disgraceful.

Halfords Suck! Dont waste your time.

I checked online, informed 3 in stock. Went on the bus 15 miles only to find it was out of stock. It is not the first time this has happened. Halfords should close all it shops and do next day delivery. While on the bus homeI ordered off amazon with next day delivery. If I had done this to begin with it would have saved 2 hours of wasted time.

Booking processes needs overhauling

I booked and paid for a new battery for my car and included the fitting option as my battery was perilously close to giving out completely. I choose the Halfords Christchurch store as I intended to have a coffee and do some shopping while I waited, as it's a retail park. When booking I was asked to input my registration number so the right battery could be found for my vehicle and the store could be ready. Five minutes after leaving the store after handing over my keys, a Halfords staff member found me having a coffee and informed me my car was on a 'don't fit list',because it had to go through a shutdown procedure which they can't do and this would mean going to a Halfords auto centre. I asked if I could just drive over as it was only a mile or so away but no, I had to book an appointment with the auto centre. The staff were friendly enough but didn't seem overly bothered that they now had ?104 of my money but I had neither a battery or an appointment to get one. Surely. If a car is on a 'don't fit list' for stores it should flag up on the website to the user that they must book in to an auto centre and not a store! To make matters worse the refund doesn't go back on the card instantly. This meant having to try and find a further ?109 to book in at an auto centre. This is the same website that let me pay for a Saturday MOT earlier this year when the chosen auto centre doesn't have any MOT testers working on a Saturday and never has! Again, shouldn't the website flag this up to the user? Here too I was left having to book into one of Halfords competitors and pay a Saturday premium after having to find more money as the Halfords refund doesn't go straight back on to the card. Never again Halfords!

Extremely Disappointing Dash Cam.

Extremely Disappointing Dash Cam Installation ExperienceI had a dash cam installed by Halfords and the experience has been nothing but a nightmare. From the start, the camera kept showing SD card errors. The first time, I was told to change the SD card, but the problem continued. The second time, all they did was give me another appointment without actually fixing anything. The third time, they finally changed the dash cam — but even then, the new one still shuts down while driving, making it completely unreliable and pointless. After multiple visits, wasted time, and extra cost, I still don’t have a properly working dash cam. Very frustrating and disappointing service — I expected a professional installation and a reliable product, but instead I’ve been left with constant problems. I would not recommend getting a dash cam fitted here.

Go to Edinburgh Bicycle Cooperative instead. Don't give Halfords your money.

My partner and I had a 2.30pm appointment at Halfords on Seafield Road in Edinburgh for a trade-in review of my bike. We were in the market for buying two battery-powered bikes. We arrived before the appointment time and waited at the front desk, where we were not acknowledged by the young man. He was on the phone, but didn't even look up to indicate that he would be with us shortly. We gave up waiting, and my partner carried my bike up the steep steps to the bike area. There were two youngsters behind the desk there, and both of them ignored us. One young woman was fixing a bike, and the young man was on the phone. We waited quite some time to be acknowledged. Eventually, the youngster on the phone, kept the phone to his ear and asked what we wanted. My partner stated that we were there for a 2.30pm bike review appointment. He spoke to the girl fixing the bike, who said that she would be a while finishing what she was doing. The boy said to my partner "do you want to bring the bike upstairs?" (while he still had the phone to his ear)....it should be noted at this point that my partner is nearly 70 years old, but thankfully had managed to bring the bike up the stairs. Any service person worth their salt would have offered to go and collect the bike from downstairs on seeing the age of the person he was speaking to. It was quite a shocking way to speak to an older person. He then stated that we should come back in an hour! I said we had booked the appointment at 2.30pm, and it doesn't take an hour to review a bike for trade-in, especially when it was quite clear it is an almost brand-new bike - which I actually purchased from Halfords. He said that we had to wait until the girl fixing the bike was available, and I said that this was not what we had booked. We booked a specific time, not a 'get around to it whenever you are ready' time. He stated that this was the best he could do. We left, and will never be back in a Halfords. That day, we had a second non-bike-related appointment in West Lothian. We had come from East Lothian for the appointment, and it subsequently took us an extra hour of traffic and driving to get to West Lothian, because we had to drive through the city centre. This was an enormous waste of our time, given that we could have driven round the Edinburgh city bypass instead, had we not had to waste our time stopping at Halfords, where the servers were entirely uninterested in sticking to our booked appointment. Clearly the shop is being run by youngsters who haven’t been trained in manners and customer service. Halfords lost a sale of many thousands of pounds for two battery-powered bikes. Finally, the complaints procedure at Halfords leaves a lot to be desired. A simple email address on the website would suffice. Instead, I went round in circles being told by the live chat person that I could not email the complaints department myself, because they don't monitor their emails, but somehow, if I sent the complaint to the live chat person, he/she would forward it to the complaints department, and they would read his/her email, but they wouldn't monitor the inbox with my email! I imagine this is a procedure used in order to avoid complaints, and to make it so difficult for people to complain that they give up. That doesn't foster loyal customers. Then the complaints people demanded personal information from me (address, phone number, email address etc), and when I said my address is not required to process a complaint, they rejected the complaint! What kind of company is this?! Don’t go. If you want a bike in Edinburgh, use Edinburgh Bicycle Cooperative instead, they’re excellent.

Booked car in at Darlington Autocenter.

Booked car in at Darlington Autocenter in person for full service and mot for27 th Aug, when I phone to confirm drop off time was told car was just booked in for service not mot, no mot slots available that day. If garage can’t even book in car correctly then no confidence in them to carry out service work. Therefore cancelled appointment and going elsewhere. Seems people on desk no idea what they are doing
