Review Time
I have booked a ferry from Skopelos to Mantoudi. On Friday, FerryScanner sent me tickets additionally via email and informed me when I had a ferry on Sunday. Then, I waited on Sunday for the ferry, and it didn't arrive... I contacted FerryScanner, and they just blatantly informed me, '? ? ?The ferry was canceled; they should contact me.(operator)" .... No one contacted me, and I was left on the island without any help from their side as it is not their issue.I needed to fast-get a taxi to another side of the island for 50 euros to manage to get on another ship.
Although I can see other people have had varying experiences, I can only say that the site worked well for me. The information on the schedules and prices was laid out in a clear, well-thought-out manner, and it was easy to see the available choices and select the most useful ferry times for our purposes. Confirmation was quick so I had no trouble on that front. This is the first time I have used Ferryscanner, so I hope the ferry journeys work out as planned.
EEEK its ok until it isn't ...and then they do answer quickly but they don't take responsibility.We booked a ferry to Crete - we have a VW transporter but there wasn't a category for van so we selected car as we know the ferries in Greece carry vans. We were invited to add the make and model and dimensions which we did. So we thought ah that's ok our van is small enough to count as a car - the same as on the toll roads in Greece. The make, model and dimensions are even on our receipt. On arrival at the port however we were charged an extra 140 Euro one way! We had to pay it or they wouldn't let us on the ferry and we would have lost the whole booking. At no point did Ferryscanner website refuse or flag up anything wrong with the booking. They have apologised and said that they will do their best to improve anything that can be improved through their website for the available categories, in order to achieve the best possible result for their customers. BUT they refuse to refund the extra amount paid or issue us an updated ticket for the journey back. We based our decision to purchase our tickets with Ferryscanner on the agreed original price and not on an extra 280 Euro. Its probably best to book direct with the Ferry companies to avoid any confusion.
