Square froze my funds after one transaction — no explanation, no support

I used Square (Squareup) once to process a payment for a guitar repair through my small business. After attempting to transfer the funds to my debit card, I received an email saying my account was deactivated and that the funds would be held for 90 days — with absolutely no reason given.I contacted customer service. The first rep said he didn’t know why the account was shut down but promised to escalate and call me back. He never did. When I called again, the second rep refused to check the case notes, refused to connect me to a manager, and hung up on me when I mentioned recording the call (even though they record their own calls).Now, I can’t reach anyone — just an automated message that blocks further support. I never violated any policy, and the money was never even transferred — it’s just sitting in Square’s account. No warning, no justification, and no way to resolve it.This is an outrageous way to treat small business owners. If you're considering using Square, be warned: they can take your money and disappear behind automated walls.
