I own a Karcher Steam Cleaner which I purchased 4 years ago. About a year ago the hose connectors became painfully hot to touch and water occasionally poured out of the connecting pipes. I phoned Customer Services and was advised to buy a complete set of hose connectors. I wasnt prepared to do so and persevered with the machine. It only got worse so this time I submitted a detailed report through the companys website. I got no acknowledgement or reply. Finally, I phoned Customer Service who offered a repair at 110 or 10 off a new one while the customer services agent yawned audibly. I wasnt prepared to accept either and my complaint was escalated. I was offered a pick up of the machine so that it could be examined but this would take a minimum of 2 weeks... It seemed to me that the problem existed in the pipe connection which is where I discovered a tiny black washer was missing. The replacement washer cost 2.50 and the machine is now working again. Im annoyed that Customer Services were unaware of this simple solution to what I expect is a common problem. Im also annoyed that there was no real interest in addressing the issue and of course, I still await a response from Karcher to my detailed online report. I wonder what exactly is the point in selling an excellent machine if theres no after sales service to turn to when things go wrong? I certainly wont be buying a Karcher product again.
