When is a customer a Customer?

My daughter recently started to use Gousto and was so pleased with them recommended that I try their meals. She duly sent me a discount code, which I tried to use. I tried this, to find that because I had registered my email account previously I could not process the order. I rang to query this as I had merely only registered my email account but HAD NEVER PLACED AN ORDER thus I was not a customer as no pur have was ever made definition of customer!I was told I could not use the discount code sent by my daughter as I was,a customer. I explained no order or purchase was ever made so zi was not an existing customer. I explained that this was ludicrous and could not understand the logic behind this.I was told they could reinstate my email address and I could place an order but I could not use the discount code sent by my daughter.In a world where business is crucial Gousto in my opinion deserve no new customers ie people who have never ordered and purchased from them with such a contradictory policy.Very disappointed at their attitude and inflexibility and quite honestly have great difficulty in making sense of their reasoning.Best avoided I guess and I will take my business elsewhere.
